Scrooms Beginner Guide
Speed boots, fast money, the ocarina, Bluestone Caverns and how to automate catching
In Scrooms, grab every quest in the starter world, finish Halden’s quest line for the ocarina, and catch and sell Scrooms for chimes to upgrade your instrument. Reach level 25, then find the runner wearing speed boots and beat him in a race to get them. With the boots equipped you can make the jump into the Bluestone Caverns, the next world. Use a Scrooms macro to AFK the catching.
Scrooms is a cozy-looking Roblox adventure with a surprisingly deep progression system. If you've played Fisch, a lot will feel familiar: you catch creatures, sell them, upgrade your gear and unlock new areas. This guide, based on Cocajola's full Scrooms walkthrough, covers everything you need to get out of the first world fast, plus how to automate the grind.
Starting out: instruments and quests
You start with a basic instrument, like the basic fiddle or a wooden lute. Instruments are Scrooms' version of fishing rods. Some have skins you can switch in your inventory.
The best thing to do first is run around the starter world and pick up every quest you can. NPCs are scattered around with quests; you don't have to finish them all right away, just start them so they're tracking. Most are simple collection tasks.
- Halden, by the fire, runs the most important quest line. He gives you the ocarina, and his final quest is reaching level 25, which you need for the speed boots.
- The Scroomdex quest, near a waterfall, asks you to complete the whole index before you can continue. It's a long one, so it's a good job for a macro.
How the catching minigame works
- Start playingEquip your instrument and play near a Scroom to draw it in.
- Hit the ring for a perfectClick as the spinning tick lines up with the target. Perfect catches give more XP.
- TuneMove your bar to the white marker and balance the needle there before the Scroom commits.
- Keep it in the zoneKeep the little mushroom inside the catch zone until the progress bar fills. If it slips out, the bar drains.
It's not hard once you get the rhythm, but it repeats for every single catch, which is why so many players automate it.
How to make money fast
The currency in Scrooms is chimes. Take your Scrooms to the seller and sell them; a single catch can be worth around a hundred chimes early on. Mutated Scrooms are worth more.
Spend your chimes on better instruments at the shop near spawn. There are three instruments to work through in the first world, ending with the Violin of Pilgrimage, and you can skip straight ahead if you've saved up. Better instruments catch faster, which means more chimes per hour.
Leave the ExoPanda Scrooms macro catching while you're AFK, then sell everything when you're back. It's free; you just need a free key.
The ocarina and setting your spawn
Halden's ocarina plays songs that teleport you. The Homeward Melody always takes you back to your home spawn, and you'll learn more songs as you progress, some of which open hidden areas. Set your home spawn with the NPC near the start of spawn. The Bluestone Caverns have their own spawn point too.
How to get the speed boots
- Finish Halden's questsComplete his whole quest line. His final quest is reaching level 25.
- Find the runnerLook for the NPC running around in speed boots in the starter world.
- Race him and winTalk to him and beat him in a race. He gives you the speed boots.
- Equip themThe boots only work when they're equipped. You can't just hold them.
How to reach the Bluestone Caverns
The speed boots are your ticket to the second world. With them equipped, head to the jump at the edge of the starter area and make the two jumps across. Don't miss the second one. You'll land in the Bluestone Caverns, where the next set of Scrooms, quests and upgrades begins.
Filling the Scroomdex
The index (Scroomdex) logs every Scroom you've caught, along with their tones: melodic, harmonic and resonant. Completing it unlocks the waterfall quest. You need at least one of every type of Scroom, so catching a lot of them is the only way through.
Automate catching with a macro
Leveling to 25, farming chimes and finishing the Scroomdex all come down to catching a lot of Scrooms. The free ExoPanda Scrooms macro does that for you: Auto Start, Ring, Tuning and Catch, each on its own toggle.
- Install ExoPanda from exopanda.com and add Scrooms from the Apps tab.
- Get a free key by watching a short ad.
- Put your instrument in hotbar slot 1, keep Roblox in front and press F3.
The video above shows the whole thing; the macro section starts at 5:24. As far as we know there's no rule against macros in Scrooms, but keep your setup to yourself to be safe. More on that in is ExoPanda safe?
